Discover the winners of the Porc d'Or Ibérico Awards 2023

For yet another year, the Spanish Iberian pork sector has dressed up to recognize and reward the best professionals at 7th edition of Porc d'Or Ibérico awards, awards that recognize excellence in Iberian pork production. Nearly 400 members of the sector, including farmers, veterinarians and technicians, as well as representatives of the administration and the main sectoral associations, have met on the night of June 30, 2023 in Granada, to learn about the best Iberian pig farms in Spain. A total of 19 farms from three autonomous communities have been awarded.
Andalusia and Castilla y León take the special prizes
The main protagonist of the night was the Hermanos Sanz Berzal S.L. farm, which won the highest award in all categories: the Special Iberian Porc d'Or with Diamond. This farm, located in Languilla (Segovia), belongs to the company Agrocesa – Grupo Vall Companys.
The Special Award for Maximum Productivity, with 20.5 weaned piglets per productive Iberian sow per year, has also been awarded to a farm in Castilla y León: Granja Arauzo, in Aldeaseca de la Frontera, Salamanca, from the company Ibéricos de Arauzo 2004 S.L.
In health, animal welfare and the environment, the La Mejorada farm, belonging to the company Agrocesa - Grupo Vall Companys, has been recognized with the Special Sustainability Award granted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, while the last of the special prizes, the one for Outdoor Production, in its third edition, has once again gone to Córdoba, this time to the Bonalejo farm, owned by the Covap company, located in Villanueva de Córdoba.
Castilla y León and Extremadura share the remaining prizes
In addition to the four special prizes, a total of 27 gold, silver and bronze statuettes are awarded, according to the technical criteria of Longevity, Live Births and Farrowing Rate, for each of the three categories that classify the farms based on of your census.
Thus, twelve farms from Castilla y León have obtained 20 statuettes (eight gold, six silver and six bronze): Twelve (five gold, four silver and three bronze) have been for seven farms from Valladolid; five (two gold, one silver and two bronze) for four Segovian farms; and three (one gold, one silver and one bronze) for two farms in Salamanca. In the case of Extremadura, five farms from Badajoz and one from Cáceres have won seven prizes (one gold, three silver and three bronze).
